Overview

For network requests including:

  • Data port activation change
  • Eduroam
  • Carleton Guest
  • Ethernet (wired) connectivity

Common request descriptions:

  • I need a new ethernet port activated.
  • Eduroam keeps asking for my username and password
  • I can't connect to the Internet
  • Wireless isn't working
  • My connection keeps dropping, connection is spotty
  • There is a large event with lots of guest devices, we would like to see if we can get temporary additional wireless.

Carleton runs an enterprise network, which is different from what you may encounter at home.

Eduroam is recommended for all laptops and mobile devices possible, and if properly registered, your devices will connect to Eduroam networks at other academic institutions. For more information, see our wiki article about Eduroam setup.

To register a gaming console or other device that does not have a full web browser, go to connect.carleton.edu.

Due to the nature of our enterprise network, many IOT devices are not fully supported (for example: chromecast, some smart speaker functionality, wireless printing). If your device needs to "see" the other device on the network to control it, it will likely work intermittently at best, and both devices must be on Carleton Guest.  Devices that simply need a connection so they can communicate with the Internet should work.
