Moodle: Google Assignments

Overview

Use Google Assignments in Moodle for student submissions via Google Apps (e.g. docs, slides, etc.). Grades implemented within Google Assignment will be synced to the Moodle gradebook. This article includes key options and configurations.

Creating a Google Assignment

  1. Enable Edit mode in the top bar of the course page

  2. Click plus icon (+) in between 2 activities OR click the Add an activity or resource button in the desired section of the page

  3. Find or search and select GoogleAssignment Tool

    1. For easier access in the future, star this item

  4. Title your assignment in the Activity name text box

  5. Click the Save and return to course button

Configuring the Settings

Click on the Google assignment from the course front page to access the settings.

  • Total Points: maximum grade of the assignment

  • Check plagiarism (originality): if enables, a report is generated highlighting text from the internet that the student didn’t cite or quote

  • Due date: this will only be reflected within Google Assignment, NOT Moodle

  • Rubric: Create a rubric for the assignment or reuse a previous rubric

  • Pencil Icon: Change the title and add instructions.
