Moodle: Course Index

Tags moodle format

Overview

The course index allows students and teachers to quickly access course activities. If the course index is available and enabled for your course, it will display titles and provide links to different activities in the course. Click the drawer on the top left hand of your course page to show or hide your course index.

How Course Format Impacts the Course Index

  1. For courses in the Buttons format, Topics format, or Weekly format, the course index is available by default and is not customizable
  2. Special Case: Tiles format shows the course index for teachers while editing mode is on. It is not available at all for students
  3. The course index is customizable by instructors for courses in the Flexible Sections format
    1. Access the course settings by clicking on Settings in the course navigation bar at the top of your course page
    2. Scroll down and click Course Format to expand the section. Make sure that the dropdown in front of format is set to Flexible sections format
    3. In the dropdown menu in front of Display course index, choose which options what you want to apply to the course index
    4. Click Save and Display
