Zoom and Google Meet Comparison

Due to the high cost of Zoom Meeting, St. Olaf carries a small number of licenses for users who require it, with the majority of video conferencing being conducted via Google Meet's increasingly robust platform.

Criteria for Requiring Zoom Pro

Users need only meet one of the following criteria

  • Someone else will need to be scheduling virtual meetings on your behalf (Scheduler feature in Zoom)
  • HIPAA compliance is required (primarily counseling or health services)
  • The nature of your work involves interacting with non-St. Olaf constituents who require the use of Zoom
  • You host larger meetings and require advanced hosting and meeting management capabilities
  • High-quality audio is critical (such as with music lessons, performances, or music playback)
