Laser Printer Installation - Windows 11 (campus computer)

These steps show how to install a department laser (i.e. HP, Epson) printer on a Windows 11 campus computer. You cannot install this type of printer on a personal computer; therefore please follow the stoPrint-personal - Windows instructions or stoPrint - Windows (personal computer) instructions.

      1. Select the Windows (Start) button and then select Settings:

             

 

      2. Select Bluetooth & devices. On the left-hand column, Select Printers & scanners. To the right of Add a printer or scanners select the blue Add Device button:

             

 

      3. The computer will search for known printers. If your desired printer is in the list then select Add device.

             

 

        If the printer you are looking for is not in the list, please follow the instructions below*.

 

      4. A window will appear confirming the installation of the printer. Select Next.

      5. The printer is automatically made the default printer. If this printer is not to be the default printer, unselect Set as the default printer.

      6. Select Finish.

*If the printer you are looking for is not in the list, scroll to the bottom of Printers & scanners, and select The printer that I want isn’t listed    Add manually

   

 

A new window will appear titled Find a printer by other options. Choose from one of the following options:
 

OPTION 1: select Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature and then select Next:

    

 

The printer directory of all St. Olaf printers will open. Search for your desired printer and highlight the name of the printer. Select OK:

    

 

OPTION 2: Choose Select a shared printer by name and enter the printer name. The printer name will be similar to “\\printers\dept-printername“. Replace printername with the name of the printer. A list will appear with known printers.

       

 

If the printer desired is on the list, select the printer name and then select Next:
