Sending a Fax

 

General Users – Faculty, Staff and Students

The following are various services that send faxes. Please be aware that most services require your name and email address, at a minimum. Some require signing up for a free trial.

FAXZERO

FREE. Simply fill in your information in the Sender field (email is required to complete the sending process), the Recipients information, and upload your file. Their branding will be on the cover page, and you can send a maximum of 3 pages + cover page.

HELLOFAX

Create an account to access their fax services. Send up to 5 pages.

RING CENTRAL

Departments with Fax Numbers

If you haven't installed Zulu on your computer, please visit https://wp.stolaf.edu/it/zulu-download-and-login-instructions/

STEP 1: Open the Zulu software (desktop app) and log in:

For username: <username>@vox.stolaf.edu   replacing <username> with your St. Olaf username.

For password: <Enter your usual St. Olaf password>

STEP 2: On the keypad, enter the fax number and select the Fax button (screen shots below show Mac and Windows):


 

STEP 3: Send Fax options will show on the right:

  • Upload Fax: Select browse to upload your PDF document. 
  • Optional: include a Cover Page by sliding the toggle. Additional Fields will appear and you can fill them in accordingly
     

STEP 4: Select the Send Fax button.

STEP 5: Make sure you get the "Fax was sent successfully" message.
Sometimes it will show as sent in the History (middle of screen), but will still be spinning on the right side of the screen. As long as it shows as sent in the History section, it was sent and if needed, select Dismiss.

NOTE: If you have issues, please restart Zulu:

  • Windows: select the "X" in the top right corner. In the bottom right corner of the Windows toolbar, select the upward arrow. Right-click on the Zulu icon and select Quit. Re-open Zulu.
  • Mac: select Command Q, then re-open Zulu. 

 

Receiving a Fax

 

Departments with Fax Numbers

Inbound faxes are routed to specially created email aliases. To be added to the list of members who will receive departmental faxes, speak with your AA/AAA, department chair, or equivalent individual.

When you receive a fax in your inbox: the email will contain general information and the fax itself will be attached as a PDF file.
