Phones - Sangoma Soft Phone Desktop Client and Sangoma Softphone Web Client

St. Olaf offers  Sangoma softphone. A softphone functions as a phone, but operates on your computer without a physical or “hard” handset. 

The Zulu softphone application will no longer be available after July 21, 2025. This guide will assist in transitioning from the Zulu softphone to the Sangoma softphone. Before installing and configuring the Sangoma Phone Desktop Client you will need to uninstall the Zulu softphone application.

New Employees

Before installing and logging into the Sangoma softphone Desktop Client request to have the Sangoma softphone enabled. This can be done through the Telephone Request form.

How to uninstall from Control Panel 

  1. In search on the task bar, type Control Panel and select it from the results.
  2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Press and hold (or right-click) on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

How to uninstall

  1. Open Finder (the blue face icon in the Dock) and navigate to the Applications folder.
  2. Most apps are in your Applications folder, which you can open by clicking Applications in the sidebar of any Finder window.
  3. Drag the app to the Trash. To delete the app after moving it to the Trash, choose Finder > Empty Trash from the menu bar.

Sangoma Softphone Web Client

To access the Sangoma Softphone for Web select the following link: Sangoma Softphone for Web

Only have to sign in once, when logging in enter the following:
Host: vox.stolaf.edu:6443
Username / Extension :  enter your St. Olaf username or phone extension.

Next enter your St. Olaf account password.

The first time you use the Sangoma Web Client, you will need to activate you Microphone settings.

Select Settings from the circle with your initials drop down menu.

Scroll down to the Audio Setting and make sure the Microphone, Speaker, and Ringer are set to Default

Sangoma Softphone Desktop Client Installing and configuring

To install the Sangoma phone Desktop Client (St. olaf owned computers only):

Mac users go to Self Service and search Sangoma Phone and select Install.

Windows Users go to Software Center and search Sangoma Phone and select the app to install. In Windows, it will install and ask for the following information.

 

Host:     vox.stolaf.edu:6443
Username: username (no @stolaf.edu)
Password: password

How to Pin to Taskbar (Windows) and Dock (Mac)

On a Windows laptop type in Sangoma Phone in the search text box and select Pin to taskbar from the options listed.

On a Mac laptop open the Sangoma Phone Desktop Client (softphone) App and drag to the left side of the line that separates recently used apps.
