New Carleton iPad Set Up

  1. Turn on your new iPad and follow the onscreen prompts
  2. When you get to the Quick Start screen, you can choose to setup your iPad using Quick Start (Recommended) or Manually 
  3. Follow the on screen prompts
  4. For Manual Setup, you will be prompted to choose your WiFi network OR plug the iPad into your Computer
    1. If you are on campus, you will need to use Carleton Guests
    2. If you use your home WiFi network, you will need to provide your WiFi password
  5. At the Apps & Data screen, choose the method you'd like to use to transfer your existing Apps and Data
    1. If you choose Restore from iCould Backup, you will be prompted to sign in with your iCloud Apple ID.  This is your personal Apple ID and does not need to be a Carleton account.
    2. If you choose Don't Transfer Apps & Data, you will be able to install individual apps you already own via the App Store
  6. At the Remote Management screen, click Next and sign in with your Carleton username and password
  7. Once your iPad is set up, you should see a prompt to Sign in to iTunes to allow jamf.carleton.edu to manage and install apps
  8. Click sign in
  9. If you have an existing apple ID that you use on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you should enter it here
    1. This can be a personal Apple ID and does not need to be a Carleton account
  10. Once you've signed in, you can return to the iPad home screen.  In a few moments, you will be prompted for touch ID or your AppleID password to complete the install of the Self Service App
