Laser Printer Installation - MacOS (campus computer)

These steps show how to install a department laser (i.e. HP, Epson) printer on a MacOS campus computer. You cannot install this type of printer on a personal computer; therefore please follow the stoPrint-personal - Windows instructions or stoPrint - Windows (personal computer) instructions. 

  1. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences: 



     
  2. Select Printers & Scanners:



     
  3. Select the + button to add a new printer:



     
  4. Select the desired printer from the list. Then, in the Use field, select from the dropdown:
    If you are not sure the specific model printer or it's a B&W printer, choose Generic PostScript Printer
    If you are adding a Color laser printer, choose Select Software, then select the specific printer


     
  5. Select Add. If you receive an error regarding a password for “lpadmin,” refer to the Apple solution page at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2754. Otherwise, continue on to the next step.
     
  6. The new printer will appear in your printer list.
