WCC236 Operations

AV operation for 236 is controlled through one of two touch panels.  This room's AV setup is complex, so it may be helpful to have an orientation session with PEPS before you use the room the first time.

Weitz 236 Touch Panel

The primary touch panel is located at the teaching station at the front of the room. The secondary touch panel is locked inside the PEPS Murphy Cabinet in the back of the room and is designed for back-of-house control for select events with PEPS support. 

Turning on the Sound System & Microphone Use

The sound system and podium mic are on by default.

Volume can be adjusted by pressing the Volume + or - at the bottom of the touch panel as seen in the image, above.

To use a handheld microphone or lapel mic,

  1. Select the mic from the cradle and use the switch on the microphone to turn it on.
  2. If there is no sound, press the MICS button on the touch panel, be sure the mic you’ve selected is not red/muted, and then adjust the volume using the corresponding slider on the touch panel.

When you’re done, please press the red SHUTDOWN button on the Crestron Touch Panel.

Turning on the Projector

The projector turns on and the screen descends when a “Source” is selected from the Crestron touch panel.  Decide how you will connect and press the corresponding button.

Connecting & Projecting from the Teaching Station using the installed MacOS Computer

  1. On the touch panel, press COMPUTER.

  2. At knee level within the teaching station, press the small black button next to the COMPUTER ON label.

At this point, you should see the computer desktop on the monitor at the teaching station and on the projector screen. If you don’t see the projected image, be sure the Hide Image button on the touch panel is not blue/selected.

If you’re still having trouble, contact PEPS by calling x5002.

When you’re done, please press the red SHUTDOWN button on the Crestron Touch Panel.

Connecting & Projecting from the Teaching Station using a Laptop with HDMI or Adapter

  1. On the Crestron Touch panel, press LAPTOP PODIUM.

  2. Find the correct adapter for your laptop or device and plug it in.  Some laptops can use the black HDMI cable, without an adapter.  If your computer requires an adapter

  • Make sure the black HDMI cable is plugged into the appropriate adapter.
  • Plug the HDMI cable or connected adapter into your laptop/device

At this point, you should see your laptop display projected on the screen. If you don’t see the projected image, be sure the Hide Image button on the touch panel is not blue/selected.  You may also try connecting using one of the other connection options.

Connecting & Projecting from anywhere using AirMedia Wireless Presentation

Wireless with the Puck:

  1. On the Crestron touch panel, press AIRMEDIA.

  2. Plug the AirMedia puck into your device

At this point, you should see your laptop display projected on the screen. If you don’t see the projected image, be sure the Hide Image button on the touch panel is not blue/selected.  You may also try connecting using one of the other connection options.

When you’re done, please press the red SHUTDOWN button on the Crestron Touch Panel.

Wireless with the AirMedia App:

  1. On the Crestron touch panel, press AIRMEDIA.

  2. Follow the instructions on the projector screen, such as “To Present visit:  http://10.160.13.92.” and follow the instructions.  If you haven’t yet installed the Crestron AirMedia app, you may be asked to install it before you can project.

Using the Blu-Ray Player

  1. On the Crestron Touch panel, press BLU-RAY.

  2. At knee level within the teaching station, locate the Blu-Ray player. Press the larger POWER button and the smaller EJECT button. Weitz 236 Blu-Ray Buttons

  3. Insert your disc and gently close the tray.

  4. Use the touch panel controls to navigate through your Blu-Ray menu and start or stop the media content.

If you don’t see the projected Blu-Ray content, be sure the Hide Image button on the touch panel is not blue/selected.

When you’re done, please press the red SHUTDOWN button on the Crestron Touch Panel.

Using the Cameras for Video Conferencing or Recording

Camera operation for video conferencing or Panopto recording is only possible when using the built-in teaching station computer.  Cameras can be controlled from either the teaching station control panel or the Murphy Cabinet in the back of the room. (The back-of-room touch panel is accessed only with PEPS support.)

It is recommended that users turn on the spotlights whenever video conferencing or recording is occurring. These lights can be activated by clicking LIGHTS on the touch panel, and then pressing High or Medium under Spotlights.

Weitz 236 Lighting Controls

From either location, once the presenter has turned on the teaching station computer, and selected "Computer" as the source,  a camera icon will appear on the touch panel.

  1. Using the built-in teaching station computer, log in to Panopto or the presenter's desired video conferencing tool, such as Zoom or Google Meet.  
    • Set Mic input to AV Bridge 2x1

    • Set Speaker input to AV Bridge 2x1

    • Set Camera input to AV Bridge 2x 

  2. Within Panopto or the presenter's desired video conferencing tool, the presenter should now see the room through one of three built-in cameras, and the audio should function using any of the room's microphones and speakers.

  3. To switch between the three different camera options, press Camera 1, Camera 2, or Camera 3 on the touch panel and note the changes in the video conferencing software.  To adjust any camera angle, select the Camera # and then press the corresponding end of the plus symbol to pan or tilt.  To Zoom in or out with any camera, press Zoom + or Zoom - .
