Renew Library Materials (Local, Northfield Area Community Members)

Most library materials can be renewed online through your library account or bringing in the item to the circulation desk. Library materials from both St. Olaf and Carleton can be renewed online. This article contains:

Renewal Instructions

  1. Go to stolaf.edu/library
  2. Select Login from the sidebar menu on the right
  3. Select Library Account (even if you are currently off-campus) from the options presented
  4. On the next page select Community Members Login
    1. User IDs are the barcode number on the back of your library card
    2. Passwords are automatically set as Library123, but can be reset within your account 
    3. If your password is not working, please submit a ticket to library staff
  5. Select your name in the upper right corner
  6. Select My Loans from the dropdown menu
  7. To renew an item you can do either of the following: 
    1. To renew one at a time, click the Renew button for that item
    2. To renew multiple items at once select the checkboxes for all item you wish to renew, then click Renew Selected  at the top 
    3. To renew all items you currently have checked out, select the checkbox at the top that lists how many items you have checked out, then click Renew All at the top

Renewals

Renewals are granted until the maximum number of checkout dates have been reached. Maximum checkout periods are:

Type of Material     Maximum Checkout Period
Books, Government Documents, Music Scores 42 days
Videos, DVDs & CDs 28 days

Renewal Exceptions

  1. If another patron has recalled an item you currently have checked out, you are unable to renew it.
