Adding Biometrics to Duo

Before you begin, ensure that biometrics is configured for your device--Face ID/Touch ID on your Mac/iPhone, or Windows Hello on your Windows PC. 

1. Navigate to https://password.carleton.edu/. Under Duo Two-Factor Authentication, select Manage your phones and devices. 

2. You may be prompted to log in: 

   

3. Select Add another device. 

   1. If you are using a Mac or iPhone

      1. Select Touch ID.
         

      2. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

2. If you are using a PC: 

   1. Select Security Key.​​​​​​​
      

   2. When Windows Security prompts you to save your passkey, select Change and then choose to save it to This Windows device.

3. If you have enabled Windows Hello, your device should automatically recognize you and you can select OK to continue.

4. You should now see Google Password Manager or iCloud keychain for Mac (depending on where you saved it) or Windows Hello for Windows as options under My Settings & Devices. At this point, you may want to update your Default Device to your biometrics option.

5. To test that you have successfully enabled biometrics with Duo, open an application that requires SSO and attempt to sign in. We recommend you do this in a private browsing window, such as an Incognito window on Chrome.
