Moodle Assignment Submission Statement

Summary

How to include a submission agreement with Moodle Assignment

Body

What is the Submission Statement?

Moodle Assignment supports a globally-configured submission statement, which can be enabled by the instructor.  This statement presents the student with the following text, to which they much agree before submitting their work.

This assignment is my own work, except where I have acknowledged the use of other people, sources, and tools, and I have used any such external resources in accordance with my instructor’s guidelines.

This statement was approved by the Education and Curriculum Committee (ECC) during their meeting on January 31, 2024.

How to use the Submission Statement

  1. In Edit Mode, add a Moodle assignment to your course page
  2. Configure your assignment name, due date, etc
  3. Expand the section called Submission Settings and then click the Show more... link.
  4. Change the "Require that students accept the submission statement" setting to Yes

The submission statement will appear on the student's submission page above the file upload box (shown below).  They will be required to check the box indicating their agreement before they can submit their work.
