Google Meet: Installing the Web App

The Google Meet App is a video conferencing application that is available for Android and iOS devices in the Google Play and the App Store.  

About the App

The Google Meet app operates as a separate, dedicated window, providing a more stable, dedicated environment and reducing the risk of browser-related lags. 

How to Install the App

  1. Mobile Device:

    1. Android: visit the Google Play Store, search for Google Meet, and select Install.

    2. iOS Device: visit the Apple App Store, search for Google Meet, and select Install.

  2. Desktop (Mac or PC):

    1. Open the Chrome Browser.

    2. Navigate to meet.google.com.

    3. Click the Install icon on the top right of the screen — opposite the URL — and follow the instructions. (This icon may look different on different computers. It may have the word "install" or simply a computer icon with a down arrow next to it.)

  1. With the app installed, when hosting or joining a meeting, the App Window should open automatically when you host or join a Meet meeting. If it doesn’t, launch the App by clicking Open In App on the top right of the screen opposite the URL.
