Video and Audio Adjustments to Improve Functionality

Video quality with any video conferencing tool can be impacted negatively with weak wifi and when the computer is processing too many other things.  For best operation, be sure your internet connection is strong and close unnecessary programs and tabs.  Periodic restarting of your computer can also help.

Within Google Meet, there are additional steps you can take for a smoother meeting.

  • Video Choppiness: if you're experiencing video choppiness or freezing during your meeting you can also lower your send/receive resolution by clicking the "V" pull-down next to the video camera, click the cog icon, and then lower your send and receive resolution.

  • Limiting Background Noise:  if you're in a noisy location (coffee shops, or have open windows, dogs, small children, etc.) be click the "V" pull-down next to the microphone, click the cog icon, and turn on noise cancellation and push to talk.

  • Sharing Computer Audio:  When presenting and sharing your screen or tab, after clicking the "Present" icon in toolbar, toggle on “Also share audio.”
