Issue
Since mid-November, an increasing number of Windows computers have become impossibly sluggish. This appears to be related to missing Windows Updates.
Solution
- If you are off campus, connect to the GlobalProtect VPN (link opens in a new window)
- From the Windows menu, open Settings
- In the Systems section, click on Windows Update
- Click the downward arrow next to Check for Updates and select Check online for updates from Microsoft Update
- If your computer says no updates are available, check again. Several computers have needed to check multiple times before the update reveals itself.
- You may need to check for and run updates multiple times before new updates stop appearing in your list.
