New features in Windows 11 are Taskbar icons are centered, the Start menu format has changed, the Settings app has been redesigned and virtual desktops are more manageable and customizable.
Toolbar Alignment
A new change to the display page is the Windows 11 Start button which is now located in the center of the toolbar.
To change toolbar alignment (move to the left)

Right click anywhere on your taskbar.

Click taskbar Settings.

Click the taskbar behaviors dropdown menu on the right-hand side.

Click on the taskbar alignment dropdown menu and choose an alignment, e.g., Left.
Start Menu
The Start menu has changed for Windows 11. Upon opening the Start menu Pinned app buttons are at the top of the panel and Recommended apps below. The Recommended section displays recently used or open files, applications, and folders.
Note the Getting Started Welcome to Windows app is unnecessary for setting up your computer and can be ignored.
Pin an Application
To pin an app to the start menu or taskbar
- Select the Start menu.
- Select All apps in the upper right hand corner.
- Next, right click on the app you want to pin.
- Select Pin to Start or select More for Pin to taskbar option.
To pin the Software Center locate the Software Center under All apps and right click to pin.
Change Default Apps
To change Default apps, for example Edge browser to Chrome browser
- Click on the Start menu, select Apps.
- Next select Google Chrome under Default Apps.
- Then select the Set Default button located in the upper right hand corner.
Virtual Desktops
In Windows 11 navigating among multiple desktops is easier, select the white/gray desktop icon on the toolbar to create multiple desktops and to move from one desktop to another.
Set a different background color or image for each virtual desktop. Note each desktop background can be set to either pictures or solid colors. If using a slideshow background or theme that background will apply to all desktops.
