Upload a PDF to Hypothesis

Hypothesis has the ability to add PDFs (and URLS for websites) to Moodle for collaborative annotation and commenting. This process can be done in Moodle and even included in the gradebook as an activity.

If you have any questions, contact the Moodle team.

For additional information, visit the Hypothesis website article Creating Hypothesis-enabled Readings in Moodle.

Adding a PDF

After adding the Hypothesis tool from the Activities menu, click on the link on the Moodle page. A window will appear - in the Activity name field, give the PDF a name. The remaining settings can be left as-is.

Click on Save and display.

After the window refreshes, click on Open in new window.

Two options should appear - when working with PDFs, it is recommended to upload the file directly to Hypothesis. To do this, click on Select PDF from Google Drive. A window will open asking for access to Google Drive. Click Allow to give access.

On the Google Drive tab, search for the PDF that you would like to add and click Select.

The PDF will appear in Hyopthesis.
